In America, the early performance arts achievements of the young Maureen FitzSimons (who we know as Maureen O'Hara) would definitely be in the category of child prodigies. As a person with Irish roots, surrounded as she was by gifted parents, and her family did this naturally. Maureen was born in Ranelagh an area in Dublin in Ireland on the 17th of August 1920. Marguerita Lea. FitzSimons made a name for herself with her contralto. Charles FitzSimons managed a Dublin-based firm and also owned a stake in "The Shamrock Rovers" famous Irish soccer team. Maureen FitzSimons is the 2nd daughter of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons, Florrie Fitzsimons Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons completed this wonderful family. Maureen did well in sports and enjoyed playing rough sports. Her naturally-born interest with her ability for performing was remarkable. She won almost all Feis Award for Theatre and Drama the country could offer. As she reached the age of 14 the Abbey Theater accepted her and allowed her to live out her passion for classical theatre as well as singing opera.
